The Root Chakra

The root chakra is the 1st chakra located at the base of the spine and is closely related to how safe and secure we feel. This chakra wants us to feel grounded. Its color is red and the Sanskrit name is Muladhara with earth being it's element. LAM is the mantra sound and the affirmation is "I am". An example would be "I am safe in my body".

The body parts related to the root are lower back, legs, feet, rectum but also the immune system. Along those lines, dysfunction would be chronic lower back pain, sciatic pain, hemorrhoids, varicose veins, knee pain, and degenerative arthritis.

When out of balance, we feel ungrounded, disconnected, fearful, and possibly that our basic needs are not being met. When balanced, we feel connected to nature, trust, safe, and that our needs are being met.

Essential oils to help are myrrh, vetiver, sandalwood, and patchouli. Red crystals to work with would be red jasper, ruby, garnet, bloodstone but also smokey quartz, black tourmaline, hematite and obsidian.

Regular Reiki sessions can help all of your chakras stay in balance to keep the energy through all of the chakras flowing freely.
